  • Position Summary

    Reporting to the VP, Lifestyle Products, the Executive will be responsible for supporting in-house publicity activities for Discovery’s Lifestyle products across Australia and New Zealand.

    In Australia & NZ, our business is in evolution as we migrate from being a traditional linear Pay TV business towards a convergent media and entertainment business that encompasses digital and mobile platforms. Generally, we are looking to embrace a ‘maker’ culture in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, youthful and low-hierarchy setting akin to Silicon Valley tech firms. We are looking for the brightest leaders to support this journey.


    • Assist with development and execution of PR plans to generate publicity for Discovery channels, products and programs
    • Draft, create and distribute monthly communications materials including press releases, highlights and program kits
    • Identify opportunities and generate ideas for media coverage and pitch to appropriate media outlets
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key media and stakeholders
    • Compile and assist in facilitating talent interview requests
    • Assist with managing local and international talent when in market
    • Manage, source and distribute images and other assets for priority programs
    • Manage press and internal screener and image requests
    • Assist with press-related activities for events
    • Collate monthly and daily media reports and assist with corporate and internal communications
    • Support VP, Lifestyle Products with ad-hoc publicity & communications duties



    • Preferred - degree qualification in PR, Communications or Marketing.




    • Minimum of 3 years in a publicity role
    • Broadcast and/or media company for a global brand preferred
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritise large workload
    • Demonstrate initiative and work well within a team environment
    • Attention to detail and an ability to think laterally
    • Driven individuals with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.




    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
