  • Position Summary

    Employment lawyer to provide and manage general employment legal /people regulatory support across the UK, EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions under the general direction and supervision of the Vice President, Employment Law. Working within and closely supporting HR client groups and the business. Providing advice, drafting, negotiation of employment agreements and termination agreements, employment policies across each region, research and assisting with ad hoc legal and policy queries.

     

    To manage independently day to day with limited supervision, UK matters and project management of various international/multi-jurisdictional matters. To manage local counsel and proactively communicate practical local advice and seek instructions from internal stakeholders. To actively move on matters and demonstrate a commercial and pragmatic approach to all client queries.

    Responsibilities

    • Provision of UK legal advice - English Law Qualified
    • Management and practical application of international laws across the organization
    • Drafting/negotiation of employment agreements, termination agreements and other employee documentation
    • M&A and commercial contract support
    • Employee data protection and immigration queries
    • Support for day to day queries (policies/organizational and ER queries/TUPE/project work)

    Requirements

    • Prior employment law training and experience essential.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to work effectively at all levels within the company. 
    • Clear, concise and practical communicator (oral and written).
    • Organised, attention to detail and ability to juggle priorities in a fast paced environment
    • Must have a law degree, completed postgraduate legal qualifications and solid employment law experience
    • Experience as junior solicitor within the employment law team of a law firm or in-house would be a key advantage.
    • Exposure to international employment laws in countries outside the UK helpful.
    • Extremely professional: calm under pressure, clear thinking, well organised, proactive and grasps concepts quickly. 
    • Emotionally intelligent outlook – ability to provide support and direction to clients of all levels.
    • Inclusive behaviour – ensuring all key stakeholders are kept in the loop. 
    • Manages priorities in a fast paced environment.
    • ‘Owns’ tasks, proactively moves matters on, seeking instructions and taking matters to conclusion without being prompted
    • Ability to manage own time judiciously and deal effectively with competing priorities.
    • Confident and ability to interact and communicate with clients across different cultures and backgrounds.
    • Team player – flexible and hands on approach.
