  • Position Summary

    The Corporate Communications department works to raise the profile of Discovery Networks UK & Ireland and members of its senior management team, both internally and externally, through various forms of communication and reputation management. Internally through Executive Breakfasts, Creative Speaker Events, screenings and other internal events and externally through PR campaigns and speaking opportunities. Internal Communications also includes aiding internal stakeholders such as HR, IT and Facilities in communicating their campaigns and events to employees.


    We are looking for a bright, proactive individual with excellent communication skills and an interest in the media and broadcast industries. The objective of this role is to support the Internal Communications Manager, Corporate Communications Manager, and Corporate Communications Executive with the day-to-day running of the department.


    • Support the Internal Communications Manager with the production of creative invites and digital slides
    • Assist in the running and communication of internal events such as screenings and speaker sessions, looking after technical set up and managing attendees, as well as assisting with major all staff events
    • Coordinate and create regular posts for Discovery’s internal social media platform, Workplace by Facebook, and act as ambassador for the platform
    • Act as editorial assistant for the company intranet, One Discovery Portal, drafting stories and ensuring it is kept up to date with all the region’s news
    • Assist in the running of CSR and charity projects with a variety of partners and assisting with Impact Day, Discovery’s annual day of Volunteerism
    • Information gathering to support communications reporting including Weekly Report (a list of activities taking place that week across the region) and coverage documents
    • Assist with Olympic employee engagement planning in the lead up to 2020 Tokyo Olympics
    • Update internal signage, including key art and poster campaigns
    • Other administrative tasks as needed including booking transport and processing invoices.


    • Strong English language skills – both spoken and written
    • Ability to communicate ideas succinctly and clearly to employees at all levels
    • Confident, proactive, hardworking and a team player
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Able to use PowerPoint, Keynote, other programmes on both Mac and PC
    • Basic design skills in Photoshop and Illustrator - creative and artistic
    • Strong organisational and administrative skills
    • PR/Communications experience
    • Social media savvy
    • Actively pursuing a career in communications within the media or TV industry
    • Sense of humour.
    • Desired study subjects: Journalism, English, Business, Communications, other humanities or languages.
