Position Summary

Discovery Networks is looking for a fixed term Media Planner until the end of 2018.

You will become part of a small team responsible for delivering effective media planning to Discovery Networks Finland's TV channels. Your daily work will take place from the Danish office in Copenhagen.

The purpose of the role is to ensure that all on-air promotional messages (promos/trailers and continuity) placed on TV5, Kutonen, Frii, TLC and Discovery channel in Finland are planned as efficiently and effectively as possible. Using media planning, marketing and advertising best practices. This includes recommending campaign weights, campaign shapes and prioritization criteria.


  • Plan on-air promotions for the channels mentioned above using What’s On autoslotter, Grip It optimiser and manual planning, ensuring campaign targets are met both on daily and campaign levels
  • Input trailer type events to the on-air scheduling system (What’s On channels) to ensure correct on-air items (for example idents, promos, stingers and fillers) are available for the presentation schedulers to place. Ensuring trailer campaigns are opened in a correct and timely manner to allow for all departments (from production to transmission) that rely on this information to function in an optimal way
  • Provide feedback to mediaplanning team and Head of Marketing with regards to promo campaign targets and promotional inventory aiding in any changes necessary
  • Plan commercial and promotional secondary events as instructed by Marketing and Ad-Sales departments. Ensuring campaign targets are met and perform campaign follow up. Keeping presentation schedulers fully briefed on these campaigns.

  • Liaise with presentation scheduling team regarding any on the day changes of the original strategy as required

  • Be a point of contact to manage any issues that arise in the transmission of the schedules e.g. promos being incorrectly tagged, commercial or promotional graphics not running correctly
  • Attend weekly meetings with the relevant departments with regards to media planning, on-air scheduling and commercial inventory
  • Monitor and report back on campaign delivery against the planned communication targets and KPI:s both on individual campaign level and in weekly and monthly reports
  • Help with handling changes in commercial and promotional inventory making sure programme start times, breaks and junctions are optimized to maximize viewer retention and the commercial effectiveness of the schedules
  • Close collaboration with Nordic hub team in Oslo on international channel Discovery planning.
  • Deputize for other members of the media planning team when necessary




We are looking for a person, who is:

  • Focused and detail oriented
  • Good at adapting in a fast changing environment
  • Independent and a self-starter
  • Takes ownership and follows processes and problems to the door
  • Speaks and writes English fluently
  • Has experience with broadcast scheduling and broadcast scheduling systems. This is not a must but will be an advantage.
