Position Summary


The Research Manager Turkey overlooks all Research activities by supporting the local departments with performance reportings and market news and provides insights about the Turkish TV and digital markets to other Discovery regions.  The Research Manager should deliver key insights supporting the Turkish strategy to grow commercial performance of both the pay- and FTA-business.


  • Providing insights into all current and future market opportunities for Discovery Turkey. Key routine initiatives include:
  • Regular reporting of channel and programme performance
  • Deeper understanding of core target groups
  • Programme efficiency reporting
  • Regular analyse and reporting of the Turkish Ad sales market
  • Partner with the Ad-Sales Manager to develop relevant pricing, inventory management and revenue projections for all lines of business
  • Competitive analysis of linear channels
  • Strategic research into growth opportunities for the local business
  • New business development and trend research
  • Ratings and ad sales forecasts
  • Brand tracker
  • Digital media research
  • Recommend and carry out research studies on key issues which would benefit strategic decision making across programming and commercial departments
  • Design, commission/execute all Turkish research studies:
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to define requirements.  Understand both Turkish and DCI business priorities
  • Recommend the most effective research strategies to meet objectives
  • Manage the budget
  • Select and manage research suppliers
  • Generate relevant consumer insights from the work undertaken
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders to implement findings
  • Negotiate long term contracts with data suppliers
  • Build strong and effective communication paths with research departments in other DCI territories, to ensure that all relevant research output from other regions is presented to the respective stakeholders in Turkish region
  • As budget holder plan the annual research budget and make sure to keep expenses within the budget throughout the year
  • Ensure that the consumer perspective drives channel creative and brand decisions, and that agreed strategies are followed through


  • At least 4 years of experience in research, brand planning, media planning/buying or consumer strategy
  • Strong understanding of the Turkish TV market
  • Proven technical research expert
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong team player, self-starter and ability to work within and adapt to a fast changing environment
  • Passion for TV, digital media and  factual programmes
  • Knows all relevant TV Research tools
  • Ability to manage workload through business based prioritization, and delivery of concise and relevant work to internal clients from revenue and content
