Position Summary

Principal duties include legal support, independently or with the Senior Director – Global Corporate Legal, for all aspects of Discovery’s worldwide acquisitions, joint ventures, minority equity investments and divestitures, with a primary focus on the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions.


  • Working with Senior Director – Global Corporate Legal, advise on acquisitions, joint ventures, minority equity investments and divestitures throughout the world, with a primary focus on the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions, including legal review and risk analysis, transaction structuring, legal due diligence and disclosure, drafting and negotiation of term sheets and transaction agreements, signing and closing responsibilities and post-closing integration efforts.
  • Assist with project managing in connection with transactions, including managing the efficient use of internal and external legal resources, and ensuring relevant deal information flow and appropriate coordination between legal and the other cross-functional deal team members.
  • Communicate practical legal advice and seek instructions from business clients, pro-actively moving on matters and demonstrating a commercial and pragmatic approach to client queries.
  • Assist in the development and organization of precedents, tools, processes, and programs to create a more efficient transaction environment.
  • Assist in training Corporate Development professionals and legal colleagues on key legal and compliance issues relating to transactions as well as deal process improvements.
  • Build strong, collegial relationships with regional counsels, subject matter experts and other legal colleagues and to foster cohesive global legal organisation.


  • English law qualified and experience as a junior solicitor within the M&A team of a law firm with a reputation for excellence in that practice.
  • Experience of working on transactions in the media and entertainment sector, both in the UK and globally, preferable.
  • Experience assisting with drafting, negotiating, managing and closing complex transactions.
  • Demonstrated mature judgment, flexibility and experience prioritizing conflicting demands from multiple business clients in a fast paced and demanding environment.
  • Team player with experience of working with cross-functional deal team members.
  • Extremely professional, calm under pressure, clear thinking, well organised, proactive and able to grasp concepts quickly.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Confidence and ability to interact and communicate with clients and other teams within the business, especially in the context of a highly global role; ability to work in a variety of team settings, whether in person or remotely.
  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight.
