Position Summary

This role is specifically responsible for the successful planning and scheduling of DNUK’s pay entertainment channels (currently TLC, ID, Home & Health) The role is also responsible for leading and developing a scheduling team.

 

Reporting to the Director of Scheduling UK, this position will work to ensure that schedules are developed and maintained to provide the business with strong and commercially successful pay entertainment channels in the UK.  This includes maximizing the ratings performance of new programming, effectively using library stock to drive volume, improving audience profile in line with commercial needs and working with the marketing team to support the brand values of the channels.

 

The job requires a great attention to detail in defining scheduling plans for the long-term, whilst retaining a flexibility and dynamism crucial for working on Entertainment channel brands. A working knowledge of television ratings and an approach to scheduling that is both strategic and creative are also essential.

 

This role will also work as an integrated member of a broader UK scheduling team, and will be expected to effectively communicate channel activities and represent the pay entertainment channels with the broader UK team to ensure portfolio collaboration and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the Director of Scheduling UK, develop schedule strategies for the channels. Proactively create dynamic forward plans which maximise performance opportunity and deliver to brand requirements.
  • Continuously highlight areas of the schedule which provide opportunity to drive channel growth and specifically to identify strong daytime and early peak scheduling strategy and content requirements.
  • Manage the workflow of a team of 3, to ensure accurate input and amendment of the schedules, and to develop the junior team members knowledge of channels and scheduling practices.
  • Monitor schedule performance and recommend and implement short & long-term initiatives to ensure competitive edge
  • Work closely with Research and Marcoms to build and maintain an in-depth knowledge of audiences and competitors, and to identify opportunities and threats
  • To liaise with media planning and Marcomms around on-air priorities and requirements
  • Manage information and processes to ensure all departments, especially DNI programming & content ops, are aware of scheduling considerations and activity
  • Schedule competitively - examining competitors for new trends, threats and opportunities.
  • Communicate scheduling initiatives and forthcoming highlights to Press, Marketing, Creative Services, Sales, New Media.
  • Maintain an awareness of programming initiatives across the UK portfolio including maintaining an active relationship with VOD and non-linear platform initiatives. To be pro-active and ensure a relationship and synergy between linear and digital content requirements and scheduling.
  • Ensure the fulfillment, measuring and reporting of all Affiliate contractual obligations

Requirements
