Position Summary


Reporting into the VP Country Manager-Turkey, the position is responsible for developing new business across its remit in Turkey and delivering distribution sales revenue targets (Discovery & Eurosport).


The position holder will be the Companies ‘eyes and ears’ in the market, to ensure future opportunities across the region - both in distribution and beyond -are discussed and potentially exploited.


Understanding the telco and mobile operator business model is crucial for the role as the position holder is required to be able to identify opportunities to diversify pay product distribution across the market and to create and execute strategy to deliver both for linear and digital products.


This is a highly matrixed role with project stakeholders in Turkey, but key influencers and decision makers in Warsaw and London, including senior management in EMEA (President, EVP, CFO and COO.)


  • Screen and/or develop potential business deals
    • Contact and develop relationships with potential partners;
    • Screen or develop potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials;
    • Evaluate options; developing robust and complex analysis and modelling to drive strategic insights;
    • Create powerful communications that pitch deals internally; resolve internal priorities; recommend partnerships and/or equity investments.
  • Contribute creative and strategic thinking on projects and challenge existing perceptions
  • Develop negotiating strategies and positions by:
    • Studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations;
    • Examining risks and potentials; estimating partners' needs and goals.
  • Close new business deals by:
    • Coordinating requirements;
    • Developing and negotiating contracts;
    • Integrating contract requirements with business operations.
  • Achievement of all aspects of the Distribution Plan KPIs in the remit
  • Management of an effective strategy designed to access all relevant individuals in the Distributor
  • To be fully conversant with customer performance, proactively identifying issues and opportunities and taking action to address
  • To be fully conversant with competitor structure and approach, highlighting and acting upon areas of weakness and strength
  • To ensure all internal and external communications present and mirror the Discovery image and brand
  • Enhance organizational reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value.

Manage Strategy:

  • Have knowledgeable strategic thinking skills to manage the market(s) in the remit.
  • Good negotiation skills required.

Manage Deals & Clients:

  • Drives the implementation of the strategy regarding the market(s) in its remit
  • Understands the markets and trends and assesses market opportunities, providing feedback to VP Country Manager-Turkey to influence strategy development
  • Works with VP Country Manager-Turkey to set revenue budgets and business initiatives that require a creative approach in an uncertain business landscape
  • Has the mindset and confidence to make calculated decisions and operate in the management space
  • Manages key clients, regulatory bodies, relationships with associations and potential strategic partners – building the image of Discovery and its brands across the region
  • Actively makes self-known in the markets and the respect is evident
  • Takes accountability for all clients in the remit
  • Proactively finds new business, new clients and leverages existing assets
  • Has a client centered approach: consults, listens and develops convincing proposals
