Position Summary



This role is 100% responsible for building the profile of Discovery’s ad sales portfolio in Turkey which currently includes 3 Pay (Discovery, Discovery Science, Animal Planet) and 1 FTA (TLC) channels and driving key revenue streams. Future plans include acquisition of a second FTA channel on top which require deep brand expertise and know-how of these 5 channels in total. The key focus will be twofold: 1) To lead/influence/motivate/manage the media reps to maximize our revenue goals 2) To be in close and regular contact to develop business opportunities (predominantly but not limited to ad sales) with direct clients and media agencies.


This is a role for a passionate, highly motivated communicator, who is detail and result-orientated with proven leadership skills, able to manage matrix in a multinational global corporation.


  • Full P+L responsibility for budgeting, management, tracking and delivery of ad sales revenue in Turkey across TV and digital platforms.
  • Active contribution to the Turkey RMT both within own commercial role, but also with wider business and product development.
  • Actively manage media representatives by:
  • setting budgets and targets
  • monitoring ongoing performance and stepping in to support revenue delivery as required
  • giving and creating presentations, developing sales support materials, research data
  • sharing commercial strategy, perspective and brand expertise
  • Efficiently communicate with Discovery Turkey, CEEMEA and Central departments in London to quickly acquire and supply to rep / clients all the information needed to pitch, close and deliver deals.
  • Establish effective commercially beneficial relationships with new clients.
  • Make visits, together with the media rep, to both direct clients and media agencies to present our ad sales portfolio within a competitive FTA, PayTV and digital environment.
  • Fluently and convincingly present our brands, platforms, channels and programming both formally and informally.
  • Develop and pitch programming ideas, programming stunts and branded content proactively to direct clients and agencies, follow up on such pitches and be ready to present and price alternatives.
  • Work collaboratively with the channel, legal, finance and compliance teams to make sure that the deals are delivered and executed to Discovery global standards.


  • Ability to understand the broader strategic aims of both Discovery and our clients. We operate more like consultants than sales people, particularly since we work through ad reps
  • Fluent in English
  • 7+ years’ experience in a media sales environment (preferably in television) with a full ad sales skill set, proven track record and existing client network
  • Strong socializer and networker to be able to act as the brand ambassador for the portfolio
  • Strong communication skills – ability to influence, pitch and close
  • This individual must be self-motivated, showing strong initiative and a business development mindset with strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • Leadership skills & ability to build and manage a team
  • Must be proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and comfortable dealing with data and analysis
