Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity in our Istanbul office for a dynamic and hungry individual.  Key area of responsibility is the development, planning, execution and evaluation of consumer, ad sales, affiliate and PR marketing activities for Discovery Networks in Turkey.

 

This person will build and develop relationships with key internal teams such as programming, digital, creative and the London based CEMEEA office to achieve a more effective work-flow so being able to communicate effectively and influence and persuade is key to the success of this role. 

Responsibilities

Sales support:

  • Supporting the ad sales team by providing them necessary tools to use in the market (e.g. reports, research data, promotional materials and creatives etc.)
  • Work with channel team to develop an integrated promotables calendar – Communicate highlights by creating sales decks and sales propositions for sale teams to ensure key programmes are supported.
  • Co-ordinate and execute special B2B events together with sales & marketing departments and agencies.
  • Manage the production of sales support materials for ad sales and affiliate sales, including production and distribution of all merchandise and production of newsletters & rate cards.

 

Marketing:

  • Play a key role in the formulation, planning and execution of off-air consumer, affiliate and ad sales marketing activities, both on brand & programming level.
  • Brief and manage agencies ensuring all communication, media planning and materials are on brand, relevant for the markets and delivered in time.
  • Develop local barter & marketing partnerships with new & existing partners.
  • Work with all contemporary ATL & BTL channels, including TV, radio, press, internet, events, direct marketing, trade shows and conferences, and others.
  • Co-ordinate and execute B2C events and the production of merchandise.

 

Affiliates support:

  • Overall point of contact for affiliates marketing departments, for all active channels in Turkey.
  • Create, adapt, and distribute among affiliates “promotables kits”and premiums
  • Develop an integrated promotables calendar and communicate highlights to affiliates to ensure key programmes are supported

 

PR:

  • Share the highlights and brief the local PR agency on the marketing and programming developments.
  •  Handle purchase orders and budget tracking, invoice processing, and liaising payment terms with suppliers.
  • Work with research department in tracking effects of marketing activities.
  • Ensure all projects deliver on time and on budget.
  • Keep track of the barter deals.
  • Create post campaign reports.

 

Other

  • Point of contact for communicating internally all marketing plans to relevant departments within DNE and DNI.
  • Work closely with EMEA marketing teams to achieve maximum economies of scale.
  • Work with all other Discovery Networks staff, agents, and relevant partners to foster a spirit of teamwork and co-operation.

Requirements

  • At least 3-4 years of strong proven marketing experience, ideally in an Emerging Market
  • Interest in factual & lifestyle reality entertainment and understanding of TV and media industry
  • Ability to work under pressure while meeting budgets and tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to come up with new and innovative ideas to strengthen our brands
  • Turkish native speaker, fluent in English. Excellent communication skills.
  • Advanced presentation skills.
  • Team player

 

IT competence 

  • Computer literate, advanced skills at Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet navigation and basic skills Adobe programmes such as Photoshop, Media Encoder.

     Desirable

  • A sense of humor and willingness to learn about new aspects of the business.
  • An understanding or interest in creative processes, including brand development & briefings
  • Self-starting and self-motivated – able to get the ground running and work autonomously to identify key areas for development
