Position Summary

The Corporate Communications Executive is responsible for supporting the UK & Ireland and International team’s central communication functions including media relations, digital communications, CSR, event management, reporting, coverage evaluation and internal communication. Discovery is a major commercial broadcaster in the UK with 14 TV channel across pay and free-to-air television, reaching 23 million viewers in the UK every month. This position plays a key role in the team supporting the core goal of promoting and reinforcing the Discovery brand to stakeholders inside and outside the organisation.


  • Source and draft press materials for the UK business, for distribution to press and digital media outlets, through traditional press and digital media strategies.
  • Create and manage communications calendars, identify speaking opportunities and coordinate award entries for the UK.
  • Generate and manage coverage opportunities for UK including profiles and features, liaising with executives and journalists.
  • Assist with the corporate social media communications strategy, designing creative and copywriting materials for digital platforms.
  • Support the communication strategy for high-profile carriage deals, commissioning news, commercial partnerships, channel launches and affiliate deals.
  • Maintain and update communication toolkits for the region (e.g. factsheets, press kits, biographies, boilerplates).
  • Responsible for cascading business information throughout the region.
  • Support preparation of press events (e.g. guest lists, logistics, briefing notes).
  • Summarise key media and business news for company management.
  • Source and write internal communications materials that support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Provide support for UK CSR initiatives to further develop Global Discovery Impact brand, including; ‘Impact Day’; a global initiative where employees volunteer their time to help local charities.
  • Support the logistics for executive visits to UK, including ‘Town Hall’ company meetings.
  • Assist with implementing the Eurosport communications strategy around being the home of the Olympics in Europe between 2018 and 2024. 
  • Support the VP Communications as needed on ad hoc projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned including administrative tasks such as processing invoices.


  • Significant years’ experience in corporate communications/PR
  • A passion for the TV sector and the wider media industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive, highly-organised and a hard-working team player
  • Self-starter with an enthusiastic can-do attitude
  • Excited about prospect of change and ability to prioritize changing workload
  • Strong attention to detail essential
  • Good academic credentials
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Mac (Keynote)
  • Advanced understanding of Social Platforms
  • Additional design skills beneficial (Canva & Photoshop)
